Learning how to make homemade meatballs is one of the most basic recipes to nail down as a homemaker. They are quick, easy to make, crowd pleasers, and extremely versatile as a base for time crunched weeknight dinners.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground veal
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 small onion, diced small
  • 1/2 cup grated pecorino romano cheese
  • 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 2/3 cup 2% milk
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Frank’s hot sauce
  • 1.5 tablespoons dry Italian seasoning
  • 1.5 teaspoons crushed red pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

Steps:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Combine meat, onion, pecorino romano, bread crumbs, milk, Worcestershire, hot sauce, and dry seasonings in very large bowl.
  3. Mix by hand until well distributed.
  4. Form meatballs in to 2″ balls and line them up on a NON-greased cookie sheet.
  5. Bake in oven for about 25 minutes or until no longer pink or internal temperature reaches 145 degrees F.

We usually throw these into the Sunday sauce then repurpose them throughout the week shifting from macaroni to heroes. These can be made ahead of time and then frozen (raw or cooked) for easy freezer meals.

If your family is gluten-free, use extra seasoning with your choice of gluten free breadcrumbs.
